Use a variety of learning areas to understand the actual size of a dinosaur. Firstly read the Journal article 'How do you measure a dinosaur?' written by a class from Island Bay School. Then use you maths skills to draw a proportional grid over a picture of a dinosaur. This part is very tricky, you need to read your ruler carefully, draw straight lines and label it accurately. Next use metre rulers and chalk outside on a suitable surface to draw the actual size of a dinosaur following your grid you created in class. Finally step back and look at the size of the creature you have re-created! This activity allows you to form an understanding of real dinosaur size while you are using reading, maths and problem solving techniques. piZap.com free online photo editor This is what Two Awesome created! Two Awesome spent a day using the multiple intelligence to participate in a range of activities that develop the skill of critical thinking as we learn about "How do fossils give us clues about the past?" We used a variety of activities that include decision making, planning, communication and creativity. Sometimes we work alone and at other times we work cooperatively.
